Battlefield 1943 is the new experiment by EA designed to test the success of fully downloadable retail games

which was a success

but we're not here to talk about corporal crap

ITS ABOUT THE GAMES!!!

The game takes place in the pacific theatre. Which means its USA vs Japan in World War II. You can start with a moderately helpful tutorial which may come in handy in the future. in the tutorial you can choose any of the 3 classes (which we will talk about later). which ever class you choose, the tutorial will be exactly the same. you start with looking around, then etc. then etc. Then you shoot barrels for the aiming part, then you run and take over a base. Afterwards you hop in a tank and begin raising hell. When the forced excersizes end, you are open to try a variety of different machines and weapons to play with and become accustomed to.

Now lets talk about the three classes

Infantry- you are equipped with a combat knife, a submachine gun, a rocket launcher and frag grenades. you are typically used for close-quarters-combat. this is considered the worst possible class because 95% of all the combat in this game takes place over 100 yards

Rifleman- you are equipped with a very accurate semi-automatic assualt rifle, a bayonet for melee combat, a grenade launcher, and frag grenades. you are used for typical medium-rangecombat (which you will see the most of). Your rifle is very overpowered but you have little ammo and reloading takes years, so pick your shots. you grenade launcher is very weak against tanks, it is used to blow up small vehickes and the insides of buildings. this is considered the most used class

Scout- its your typical sniper. you are equipped with a bolt-action sniper rifle, a handgun, a sword for melee combat, and mines. you shots with the sniper are very weak and a headshot is the only way you can get a one-shot kill. if you miss once, you enemy will hear you and run away, so it is very wise to pick your shots. you handgun isvery weak and only for emergencies. you mies are pretty much your best weapon, just a single, thrown mine can instantly blow up a tank or an unsuspecting enemy

all 3 maps are very similar, you have a somewhat symmetrical island with 2 boats, each team has their own boat they spawn with in the beginning of the game. you try to kill the most enemies and take over the most bases to win the game. you are open to fighting on foot, on jeep, on tank, on an anti-arcraft machine gun, and an airplane.

the two main combat vehicles are the tanks and airplanes. the tanks can shoot with a michine gun or a rocket. while the airplane can dogfight with their machine guns, or use a small bomb to blow up enemies on ground.

this is a fairly simple game that can reach the hardore and casual

DOWNSIDES

all of the classes have weaknesses which are usually the ones that get you killed
airplanes were designed to be hard to control
no matter where you are, there is a sniper watching you
the game is very slow and you have long distances to run
it will take about 2 full minutes before you even see an enemy, let alone kill him
there are only 3 maps (with an airplane dogfighting minigame)
the cartoonish charm wares off very quickly
